Happy 8th birthday, Show! To celebrate this joyous occasion (and the 8th anniversary of the very first Wincest fic too),
samdean_otp is having an Eight Days of Wincest challenge. Be sure to go over there and join the celebration! Here, have a drabble…
Season One
This is what Dean wanted. What he’s dreamt of, waking with a burst of relief only to realize he’s alone. What he’s longed for, in every way he shouldn’t. Sam is riding shotgun, filling the empty space on the Impala’s leather seat, in the depths of Dean’s heart. Sam is tall and strong, his jaw set with the determination that Dean remembers.
The glow of a streetlamp washes over Sam as they drive; Dean can see his brother’s throat work, stubbornly fighting back a sob. Dean feels the ache in his own. Not like this, he thinks. Not like this.
And this was my first Season 1/Stanford based fic, quite a few years ago now. Time flies! The Ghost of Somebody At His Side
Happy birthday, Show!

This first one I love the line about Sam willing the empty spaces and the desperate relief that brings. But already that final line of ‘not like this’ is haunting 🤗
